Meet the Website Team

Our purpose of this website was to make sure nursing students are not alone when it comes to  situations with MAiD. Our goal is to make sure the future of the healthcare is more aware of MAiD and the support that is available for those who are treating a patient who applied for MAiD. MAiD is not only a difficult time for the family members and the patient, but it also affects healthcare workers a lot more then people know.

Karly - Nursing Student

Hello. My Name is Karly and I am a RPN student hopefully to bridge out to RN after I'm done schooling for RPN. Before I was a nursing student, I was a Physiotherapist Assistant (PTA) that worked at a long term care home. I am very passionate about this topic because I had a patient of mine who wanted to apply for MAiD. She had a Brain Tumour earlier in her life  that was removed before she was diagnosed with Bi-polar Disorder. During her application process, it  was very difficult for her care team and the faculty that she lived in to support her and the healthcare providers. They were unaware how much MAiD affects others and improper procedures occurred due to lack of education, awareness and services. My goal is to help prevent this from happening to other facilities and improve the education of MAiD for the healthcare workers. My research that I have included on this website  is  about MAiD and the home page.

I currently work in LTC and am thrilled about what the future can hold with a nursing license.  After this website research I am more confident in my role and expectations. I have done extensive research on the application process and the methods.

My goal is to ensure different healthcare workers as well as students to know that they are not alone and that there are services out there to help them without fear of being judged or be seen as unsupportive.

Victoria- Nursing Student

I am a dedicated RPN student with a strong focus on supporting nursing students and practicing nurses both mentally and physically. Through my work on this project, I developed resources aimed at promoting well-being, resilience, and overall health within the nursing community. I am passionate about ensuring that those who provide care to others also have access to the support they need to maintain their own wellness.

Abhinandan - Nursing Student

Abhinandan is an RPN student who focused on the legislative aspects of Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) in Canada. He researched and presented key laws, ethical considerations, and policy frameworks that guide MAID practices. His work helps provide a clear and informative understanding of the legal structure surrounding MAID, making it easier for others to navigate this complex and sensitive topic.
